Regarding Special Student Applications for the Spring Semester of 2025–2026

Application Dates: March 3–6, 2026

Application Deadline: March 6, 2026, at 4:00 PM

Classes began on February 23, 2026.

Students who have completed their final application and paid the contribution fee/tuition may attend the courses they have selected upon request (until a decision is made by the relevant Institute’s Board of Directors). For detailed information regarding the course enrollment process and related procedures, , students must contact the relevant course instructor.

Application Stage

- Prospective students must first complete the appropriate application form electronically and have it approved by the relevant Department Chair. (It must include a STAMP and SIGNATURE.)

- Since the announcement regarding closed courses was made on March 2, 2026, applicants wishing to enroll in a specific course must take into account whether that course has been closed; prospective students applying as special students must obtain confirmation regarding course capacity from their department and course instructors.

- Applicants applying as Special Students are required to pay the contribution fee.

- You must visit the tuition office to have the contribution fee calculated and make the payment through the designated bank.

- Students who have paid their tuition must obtain a document from the tuition office confirming they have no outstanding balance and submit a copy of the documents listed below to the tuition office.

- Students who have received approval from their department chairs and the tuition office must complete their application by personally submitting a copy of the following documents to our institute.

 

Required Documents for Special Student Applications

- A receipt* confirming payment of the contribution fee and one photocopy (the receipt must be submitted to the Fee Office, and the photocopy to our Institute)

- A certificate of approval issued by the Institute at their home university where they are enrolled, regarding the course(s) to be taken at our university (decision of the Institute’s Administrative Board). Once submitted to our university, the special student status will be officially communicated to your university in writing. 

- Student ID (Must be electronically verifiable or bear a wet signature and seal.),

- Transcript (Must be electronically verifiable or bear a wet signature and seal.),

- Copy of ID

- FR-0316 Special or Visiting Student Course Registration Form **

**After paying the contribution, you must go to the tax office and have the FR-0316 application form stamped as “No Debt.”

-Students wishing to enroll in courses taught in English must submit documentation demonstrating the required English proficiency for the graduate program

-For international students wishing to enroll in courses taught in Turkish, a TÖMER certificate at a minimum C1 level (provided it was obtained from a state university)

Important Notes:

1-) Students applying must complete all all procedures March 3–6, 2026 (Application deadline: March 6, 2026, at 4:00 PM) .

2-) In accordance with the provision regarding the admission of special students in the YÖK Regulations on Graduate Education and Teaching, only students enrolled in a master’s or doctoral/artist’s degree program may apply as special students.

 

YILDIZ TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY REGULATIONS ON GRADUATE EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION: PROCEDURES AND PRINCIPLES FOR IMPLEMENTATION

ARTICLE 15-

(1) Students enrolled in a master’s or doctoral/artist’s degree program at another institution of higher education may apply to the Institute as special students with the approval of the Department Chair of their respective Institute’s Department. Applicants may be admitted as special students to graduate-level courses upon the recommendation of the Department Chair and a decision by the Graduate School Executive Board.

(2) Special students may not conduct thesis work and may only take courses from thesis-based graduate programs.

(3) Courses taken as a special student are subject to a fee, and the amount to be paid is determined each year by the University Board of Trustees.

(4) Special students are not entitled to the rights of regular students at the university, but they may take advantage of academic opportunities.

(5) A special student may take a maximum of 3 (three) courses with local credits in a single semester.

(6) Special students are subject to the university’s Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations and the Procedures and Principles for Implementation. At the end of the semester, this student is issued a document indicating their academic standing.
