FAQ About the Admissions

 

When can I make a graduate degree application?

There are two application cycles, before Fall and Spring semesters. You may see the application dates on the academic calendar.

 

What is the required GPA for making an application to an MA Program? 

GPA is not required to make an application.

 

Is it required to have GRE or GMAT or ALES exam scores?

Minimum required exam score (GRE or GMAT or ALES) may vary depending on the program. For more information about the scores required for each program, visit www.sbe.yildiz.edu.tr, choose “Programs” from the upper menu and click on the program to reach the program details and the required scores to make an application.

*GRE/GMAT/ALES score is not required for Arts and Design programs.

 

What does the In-Field Quota, Out-of-Field Quota mean?

The in-field quota indicates the quota reserved for students who studied at a relevant undergraduate degree and out-of-field indicates the quota reserved for students of other programs.

 

May I apply by post or mail?

No, students can only apply through the Online Application System. 

 

What are the required documents for MA program applications?

Applications are submitted online by scanning and uploading the following documents to the online application system.

  • BA/ BSc Diploma
  • BA/ BSc Transcript
  • ALES or GRE or GMAT Report
  • English Proficiency Exam Report
  • Turkish Proficiency Certificate

Applications are submitted online by scanning and uploading the following documents to the online application system.

Can I apply to a graduate program before receiving my undergraduate diploma?

Yes, you can make an application but if you are admitted to a program, you should deliver the registration documents on the registration date.

 

FAQ About Non-Degree MA Programs

 

Is GRE or GMAT or ALES score required for making an application to a non-degree MA program?

GRE or GMAT or ALES score is not required for non-degree MA program applications.

 

Should I have an English proficiency exam score to make an application to a non-degree MA program?

English proficiency exam score is not required to make an application to a non-degree MA program. International Students should have a TOMER Certificate issued by a public university or Yunus Emre Institute Certificate in C1 level in order to make an application to a non-degree MA program.

 

FAQ About the Tuition Fee and Scholarships

 

When should I pay the tuition fee? 

International students should pay the tuition fee before course registrations each semester. Students are adviced to check the academic calendar for course registration and tuition fee payment dates. 

 

Do you offer scholarships to international students?

No, Yıldız Technical University do not offer scholarships to international students but accepts students through Turkiye Scholarship Program. What are the required documents for registering to an MA program?

 

  • BA/ BSc Diploma (Original& a copy& translation)
  • BA/ BSc Transcript (Original& a copy& translation)
  • Equivalency Certificate*
  • ALES/GRE/GMAT Report (printout)
  • English Proficiency Report (printout)
  • Turkish Proficiency Certificate (Original& a copy)
  • Passport bio page (Original& a copy)
  • 2 passport size photos
  • Residence Permit and a copy**

 

*Diploma Equivalency Certificate from Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is required for diplomas received from a country other than Turkey. Students who do not have the equivalecy certificate are granted time according to the date determined by the Council of Higher Education.

 

**Students who do not have the residence permit are granted time according to the date determined by the Directorate General of Migration Management. In order to complete their registration, students are responsible for delivering their residence permit and a copy to the Graduate School of Social Sciences.

FAQ About Graduation 

 

What is the publication condition for graduation?

In accordance with the Senate Principles of the Education Regulations of Yildiz Technical University, dated 03.11.2016, the conditions of publication to receive an MA and PhD degree have been changed. According to this;


Publication condition for MA Degree:

In order to receive an MA degree, students must provide at least one of the following publications, issued with the advisor about the thesis:
a. An article published in a national or international journal

b. A presentation or poster work about the thesis at a national/international conference

 

Publication Condition for Ph.D Degree:

In order to receive PhD degree, students must meet both of the following publications, issued with the thesis advisor about the thesis:

a. A presentation about the thesis at a national/international conference

b. An article published in a national or international journal

 

About Article Acceptance Letter

A document containing a DOI number or volume-number information to indicate that an article has been sent to a journal and has been accepted for publication is required.

 

About Oral Presentations

Proof of oral presentation must be provided by the certificate of participation and the conference program.

 

I have completed the required number of courses and credits, when should I take the PhD Qualifying Exam?

Students completing all the courses with a GPA of at least 3.00 can apply to take the PhD Qualifying Exam. PhD students should apply for taking the exam on GSIS. Students should register to "Doctorate Thesis" and "Specialization Field Course" in accordance with the thesis advisor’s group in the course registration section.

 

I have passed the PhD Qualifying Exam successfully. What should I do next?

For the students, passing the PhD Qualifying Exam, a thesis committee shall be established within one month at the latest with the recommendation of the thesis advisor, the Graduate School Director and the Graduate School Board.

 

On which dates does the thesis committee meet?

Thesis committee has to meet twice a year between May-June and November-December.
